cats: items carrying the tag cats.
!cats: items not carrying the tag.
"beach house": a literal tag with spaces or special characters (quotes force a literal).
tag:"name": the tag of this exact name — the way to ask for a tag whose name holds a reserved word, a colon or a space (for example tag:"source: 4chan"). !tag:"name" negates it.
tag-pattern:"glob": items carrying at least one tag whose name the glob matches (case-insensitive; * stops at a slash, ** crosses it). !tag-pattern:"glob" negates it. A pattern that matches too many tags is refused.
tag-fuzzy:"foo bar": items carrying at least one tag whose name (or an alias) is an approximate match — a spelling mistake or changed word order is allowed. A single word (tag-fuzzy:sunset) tolerates typos; a quoted multi-word value needs every word, in any order. !tag-fuzzy:"foo bar" negates it. A value that matches too many tags is refused.
a|type:static|blob:1234abcd: an OR group: items matching any of these members. A member is a tag, a field or a reserved word — each repeats its own prefix; ! negates ONE member (!a|b is "lacks a or has b"). "None of" is separate negated terms: !a !b. Traps: type:static|video searches the tag video (write type:static|type:video), and name:a|b needs quotes for a literal pipe (name:"a|b").
only:(cats dogs): items carrying exactly these tags and no other.
!(cats dogs): items missing at least one of these tags; (cats dogs) means the same as cats dogs.
type:image: the media group or kind — one of static (a still image), animated (an animated image, an animated WebP included), image (both), visual (image or video), video, audio, pdf, text, code, markdown, archive, executable, design, document, presentation, spreadsheet, ebook, other. The container kinds (gif, webp, apng, …) are no longer values — an animated PNG is mime:image/png type:animated. !type:image negates it.
name:"text": the display name or the original filename contains text.
blob:<sha-prefix>: every item on a blob whose content hash (sha256) starts with the hex prefix (at least 8 characters).
in_album / !in_album: the item belongs / does not belong to a collection.
in_variant / !in_variant: the file has / does not have another form that you can open (a variant group).
collection:"text": the file is in a collection whose name contains text.
untagged / !untagged: the item has no visible tag / has at least one.
is:shared: the item's blob is referenced by another item (a deduped duplicate). !is:shared negates it.
source:: the item has a source URL; !source: lacks one; source:text matches a substring of the URL.
locate:<ulid>: jump to the gallery page that holds that item, in this view. It does not add a filter — it redirects and marks the card. An id not in this view reports so.
preview:gif / preview:video: the item's stored moving-preview format — a literal filter on the blob preview MIME (image/gif or video/*); negatable. Every new moving preview is an mp4, so preview:gif now lists only a file whose moving preview is still a GIF from before this release (not yet derived again); on a finished instance it lists nothing.
mime:image/png / mime:audio/*: the file's exact media type, or a family with /*.
width:1920 / height:1080 / width:>=1920: the displayed pixel size; comparators <= >= < >.
length:30 / length:1:30: the duration in seconds (or m:ss / h:mm:ss); a whole value is that one second, so length:<=30 includes a 30.4 s clip.
resolution:fullhd / resolution:>fullhd / resolution:sd: a named screen size in either orientation — sd, hd, fullhd, qhd, 4k, 8k (aliases 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 2160p, uhd). >fullhd is larger on both edges, so a mixed shape (a 3840×1000 banner) is in neither >=fullhd nor <fullhd; sd is three sizes (640×480, 720×480, 854×480), so a size between two of them is both <sd and >sd.
aspect-ratio:16x9 / aspect-w:16 / aspect-h:9: the reduced, snapped display ratio (1920x1080 and 16:9 both mean 16x9), or one of its two components.
codec:h264 / codec:aac: a video or audio codec name.
taken:2021 / taken:2021-05 / taken:2021-05-01: the capture date; a year, a month or a day is a range, with the comparators.
iso:100 / aperture:2.8 / exposure:1/250 / focal:50: the photo's ISO, aperture (f/2.8 too), shutter time and focal length in mm.
frames:60 / fps:30 / bitrate:320k / pages:10: the frame count, frame rate, bit rate (320k, 2M or a bare number of kbit/s) and PDF page count.
title:beach / camera:canon / camera:can* / album:"abbey road": a measured text value: title, camera, lens, software, artist, album, genre, producer. Case-insensitive equality, or a trailing * for a prefix.
has:codec / !has:codec: the file has (or has no) value for a property field. !has:codec also lists a file that has not been examined yet, so on a fresh instance it can name a video that is not extracted.

Terms combine with AND; | is OR between single members inside one group. A space after any field (type: image == type:image) is allowed, except before an only:(…) group. A search of more than 20 tags is cut for visitors.
